One Economy: The Beehive
- Our consumer Web site, the Beehive, brings important information about money, health, school, jobs, child care, and much more to over 300,000 people every month. About 45 million Americans are currently isolated from resources that can connect them to the social and economic mainstream. One Economy uses technology to help them end their economic isolation, build assets, and raise their standard of living through the Beehive. A Children's Partnership study found four significant deficiencies in current online content's relevance for low-income people: literacy barriers, language barriers, lack of cultural diversity, and lack of local information. We provide dynamic content for low-income people in a way that most online content providers don't. Our content is written at a 6th grade literacy level. Our content is available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Russian, and Urdu. Our content is culturally-specific. Our content offers national and local resources. Centerstage Chicago
- Centerstage Chicago is the continuing project of a few private individuals and everyone willing to share their passion for Chicago culture, arts & entertainment. The site was born in gopherspace at Northwestern University way back in the early Nineties. The "Virtual El"™ was first published in HTTP on the Web in late 1994 (way before everyone thought it was cool to do so). We created Centerstage Media, LLC in 1995. Since then we have done our best to keep our noses clean, stay out of the corporate machine and focused on delivering something unique to our users: a friendly local media company. As one of the few stable and independent city-guides about Chicago during these many strange years, we have earned trust and respect from thousands of visitors each and every day.

It's now the daily stop for street smart planning of your entire life in the city. Every day we will be bringing you fresh content, entertainment listings and information. Articles and recommendations about stuff you care about. You can search for restaurants, movie and performance listings, concert venues and local businesses. And Newcitychicago.com's listings include editorial reviews and recommendations in addition to contact information. Plus we've added free email, discussion boards, and weather is coming soon. I encourage you to become a Newcitizen. In addition to having an email address that you can identify with, you can interact with our writers and other users on our boards.
